Shoulder Dislocation & Instability Repair
The shoulder is the most commonly dislocated joint in the body. After the first dislocation – especially in young and sporty people – the shoulder can keep slipping out due to a torn labrum (Bankart tear).
You may need treatment if
- Your shoulder has dislocated more than once
- You feel the shoulder is loose or "slipping"
- You avoid sports or overhead activity out of fear of dislocation
Arthroscopic stabilisation
The torn labrum and stretched ligaments are repaired back to the socket using small anchors, through keyhole surgery. In selected cases with bone loss, additional procedures may be advised.
Recovery
A sling is used initially, followed by a structured physiotherapy programme to restore movement and strength before return to sport.
